Week 38

Floating leaf 

Monday 7/18/2016 

In the morning we did all of our shopping then stopped by Brother Canon's to pick somethings up. After we had zone activity at the church, we played volleyball. We had dinner back at the apartment and then went out and did some tracting to end the night. 

Tuesday 

In the morning after studies we had a service at, future in humanity. The people that run it didn't show up so we left. Sunny Hills came to our apartment and we had lunch. We went out to see some less active members but no one was home. We went over to islands were we met the Nordlins for dinner. After dinner we went out and did some tracting before the end of our night. 

Wednesday

We had district meeting in the morning. We talked about our daily planning. After district meets we had lunch at the church with the zone. We tried to see some less actives before we had a lesson with Tamara. We met Brother Northgrave at Tamara's and we taught her the restoration. It was a great lesson, we were able to clarify a lot of things. After our lesson with Tamara we went straight for dinner at the Jernigan's. It was an awesome meal as always. We did some walking around and tried to visit Juan but he was not home. Then we headed back to the apartment. 

Thursday 

We went to Mary's kitchen for service after studies and lunch. The Sunny Hills sisters and the North Hills Elders came. After we finished with Mary's we stopped by the mission office. I got to see a lot of buddies there. We said goodbye to the Anderson's a senior couple that serve at the mission office. We stopped by Joe's ice on the way back up to our area. We had dinner at the apartment. We went out and tried to do some visits. We finished the night at the church so Elder Hamby could do his 'my plan stuff' for when we goes home. 

Friday 

After studies we went right into our weekly planning. We finished weekly planning then had a quick lunch. We went out to try and see a guy we have been trying to see for awhile. We went over to Tamara's then taught her the plan of salvation. It was awesome she had a lot of questions we were able to answer. We got to our dinner with Sister Meirelles as quick as we could. It was a good meal. We went to see Krystal to have a lesson, but she forgot. We stopped by the church to do some work on the I pads. 

Saturday 

We exchanged with Sunny Hills in the morning. I stayed with Elder Westover. Elder Lue and Hamby went to a baptism then a memorial. We went to a nearly deserted canyon where a Boy Scout camp is. We setup some stuff for a Cubs scout camp, that was going to be held there. We were there for a few hours then we headed back to civilization. We met up and exchanged back. We had dinner then got ready to head out . We went out and got a couple appointments set. We saw this guy that was dancing around an intersection with a cross. Sunny Hills came back and we waited for the transfer calls. They didn't come in until real late. I found out what my next assignment is for the next six weeks. I will be going with Elder Rubio in Placentia. 

Sunday 

We had PEC/Ward council in the morning. It was a pretty entertaining meeting this week. Sacrament was awesome that had some good talks on ordinances. After church I got to say goodbye to a lot of the members that were cool. We grabbed lunch and stopped by the La Habra apartment. We had dinner with the Purrington's, they are such a nice old couple. We went to the Bertichini's to finish the night playing settlers of Catan. 

I have had a great time serving with Elder Hamby. It is crazy he is going home in September.

Week 37

Monday 7/11/2016

We did some shopping and stopped by a computer lab in the morning. When we were done we went to district activity. We had a water balloon fight with the other district. When we finished we went with Sunny Hills to Brother Canons house. After that we headed back home to exchange with North Hills. I stayed in the area with Elder Dube.

Tuesday 

In the morning we had a service with North Hills and the Sunny Hills sisters. We went to a Lutheran church and helped with a program called Future in Humanity, they help with case management with homeless people. We helped clean the place for a few hours. We headed back to the apartment for lunch. We went out to meet people. We were able to meet some cool people. We taught the restoration to a young women, she enjoyed the message. We saw the Else's, but we probably will not be working with them for now. The Else's have not been able to progress. We went back to the apartment for dinner. Then went out to try to see some more people. We met Juan a teenage kid then taught him a brief restoration and how it can bless families. We headed back for exchanging back. 

Wednesday 

In the morning we had district meeting, it was a awesome district meeting. After that everybody met back up at the church for lunch. Brother Northgrave came to the church then we went out and did some member hunting with him. We were not able to find anyone home so it will continue. After we dropped Brother Northgrave off we did a little more less active work, but we couldn't catch anyone. It was time for dinner and we had dinner with the Schilling's, that was good as always. After dinner we did some tracting around, some members we met the Night family. We invited our selves into their home and taught them a brief restoration because it was kind of crazy in the house. We met some other people that were not too interested. We met up with the zone leaders to pickup 20 copies of the Book of Mormon. Our goal is to pass out all 20 of then some Elder Henderson will make us lunch. We finished the night by getting hair cuts from the La Habra Elders. 

Thursday  

We had President interviews in the morning. After the interviews we had a quick lunch then headed to a service. We met up with everyone in the district and cleaned up a lady's backyard. We were not able to finish the yard before everyone had to leave. We all got out of the house and there was tickets on all of our cars. That was fun, we didn't see any signs that said street sweeping. We went back and got ready for dinner with Brother Dempke. We went to a Chinese Islamic place. After we went out and did some tracting, we were not able to find anyone solid. Then that was the end of our night. 

Friday  

In the morning after studies we went back to finish the service we started before. The North Hills and some of the deaf branch elders came. It took a few hours to finish cleaning up the yard, then she took us to lunch at Red Robin. After lunch we took off and dropped off some usbs at brother Cannons house. We got ready for dinner with the Davis family. After dinner we did some tracting. We met a few cool people, not to many that had great potential. When we were finished we realized we walked quite far from the car. When got back to the car, we went back to the apartment, then exchanged with the zone leaders. I went with Elder Durney into the YSA. 

Saturday 

After studies we went out to try to find some potential YSA's. We were able to find some cool people, but no luck finding anyone. We went back for lunch at the apartment. After lunch we had a lesson with Kelsey a member in the ward we talked about family history. Rachel wanted to meet with us so we met up with her at a church building, we talked a little bit about temple work. We did some more finding before dinner. Then we met this guy that was getting high off of pressurized air in a neighborhood. We talked with him till the cops showed up and took him away. We were heading to dinner when we saw a lawnmower in the middle of a intersection. It was from a car wreck, but we didn't notice that at first. We had dinner with Brian, he got us Pepe's it was pretty good. The rest of the night we did finding, we met some people that we were able to get return appointments with. We exchanged back at the end of the night.

Sunday

We had church in the morning,Tamara was able to make it. Brother Dilley and his wife spoke which was awesome. After sacrament meeting we had gospel principles and there was a good amount of people that came. After church we had lunch before we started weekly planning. We finished weekly planning then had dinner. We finished the night soon after that. 

Week 36

Monday 7/4/2016 

The 4th of July 

We started the day off by going and meeting up with 98 other missionaries at a parade. All 100 of us missionaries carried flags down the parade route. At the end of the parade the Taggarts were there to say hello to everyone. After the parade we talked with everyone for a while then we were off. We headed to the Schilling's for a barbecue we had a few other sets of elders come to eat with us at the Schilling's. When we were done it was time for us to head back in for our curfew.

Tuesday 

We spent the majority of our day going through less actives in the ward till dinner. Our dinner was with the Mikols. During dinner Elder Hamby laughed for no reason, but he was able to save himself. It was a pretty entertaining dinner. After dinner we went to the church building and checked up on the sisters, the it was time to go in for the night. 

Wednesday 

We had district meeting in the morning our focus was on listening. After district lunch we went out and did some finding till dinner. Then after dinner we did more. 

Thursday

We woke up at 5  for the drive to the temple we got out at 10 from the temple. After the temple everyone had lunch at the Cafe Rio. We went to max muscle and got a free test they give to missionaries. We also stopped by Joe's ice on the way back up to Fullerton. We had a zone activity at one of the church buildings. We finished the night with shopping and dinner. 

Friday 

We started weekly planning after studies. It was solid, we are ready for next week. We went to the church building to sync up and work on some lists. We went back to the apartment and grabbed dinner. We met the Kinne family they we coo,l they are less active and we want to try to work with them. We did some tracting before we went back in for the night. 

Saturday 

We went out for the day and looked through our single members list. We were able to meet quite a few people then got to talk to them. Our dinner was with the Douglass family which ended the night. 

Sunday 

We had Pec/ward council in the morning they have a lot of good things planned for the ward. After church we grabbed some lunch then headed over to see Tamara with the bishop and the high priest group leader. We had to leave for our dinner before it was done. Dinner was with the Deans they are a awesome family. After dinner we stopped by the Bertichinis. Then we headed in for the night. 

We have to do a lot of finding for days,we are hoping it will pickup here soon. 

Week 35

Monday 6/27/2016

In the morning we got our shopping done. We stopped by a computer lab so we could do some music things and backing up of pictures. We did some more shopping, then headed for zone activity. We met up at one of the church buildings and walked down to the park that is at the bottom of the hill. We played some volley ball and everyone relaxed for a while. When it was finished we got ready for dinner at the Jorgensen's home. They made a great meal. The Jorgensen's are awesome at sharing the gospel with others and are great at doing member missionary work. We had them setup their family mission plan and left. After dinner we went to the Douglass's home. We met up there with brother Capaloto, Tamara and the Douglass's. We went over to the Torres family and brother Capaloto who is a surgeon, talked with them. Joel the dad is getting a cancer surgery in the next week so brother Capalato was answering some questions. Brother Douglass gave the Torres's a Book of Mormon he wrote in. We also gave Joel a blessing before we left. Then we ended our night after that. 

Tuesday  

We went out and tired to see potentials for the majority of our day. We saw a less active Anna, she was a little busy so we setup another time with her. We park the car at the Deaf church building then walked around to try and see some members of he ward. We didn't have any luck on seeing anyone. We headed back to the car and went to Lucille's for dinner with sister Smith. Lucile's is really cool they smoke all of the meat they use in a giant smoker in the restaurant.  They had a lot of great food. After we headed over to Tamara's and met brother Heiney. We helped Tamara setup all of her accounts and get started on family search. She was really excited about finding her family. We made a lot of progress with her account. When we were done we started back for the apartment. 

Wednesday 

In the morning we had zone training, President and Sister Taggart came. We focused on the spirit and prayer. It was a great zone training. After zone training we went back to the apartment for lunch. We went out and did some finding and got no interest. We met the zone leaders at a church building. They needed us so they could teach a single sister. We went back to the apartment for dinner. We tried seeing potential investigators for the rest of the night. At the end of the night we exchanged with North Hills and I went to North Hills with Elder Lindsey. 

Thursday 

We had a service at an investigators house with our companions. After we finished cleaning up the yard we grabbed some lunch. We had an assignment at Mary's so we went down and helped pass out food. After Mary's we went to Joe's and on then way there we saw two deaf people in a car. We tried getting their attention Elder Lindsey even honked the horn, but their deaf. When we got their attention we were doing our terrible basic sign language that we knew. We wrote down our number for them to text us and handed it to them as we were driving down the road. We came to a stop light and we were signing them then we lost them after that. They didn't text us, but it was a pretty interesting experience. We got back to the area and had dinner. After dinner we taught Ralph. He was cool he really liked the message we shared with him. While we were having the lesson we heard a live band playing not that far from us. We went to  checked it out after the lesson, it was a journey tribute band playing in the park. We saw a few of the North Hills members there. We went back to their apartment and exchanged back at the end of the night. 

Friday 

We had service at Stop Hunger Now with Acacia Park. We helped stack boxes and fix pallets from events that they had. After we were finished we stopped by Joe's ice, on the way back up to Fullerton. When we got back we had dinner and weekly planned, which took up the rest of our day. 

Saturday 

After our studies we went out and did some more member hunting. We were not able to catch anyone home. It got to be time for dinner, then we headed back to the apartment. After dinner we went to the mission 50th anniversary celebration. We got to see all of our mission buddies since almost everyone from past and present were there. The first hour was an hour of mingling. Then we had a program, the Polly language programs did some cultural dances, then the Spanish did some cultural dances. Four previous mission presidents spoke. Then Elder Ruben Acosta an area seventy, that was a convert from the mission spoke. It was also filled with other musical numbers and talks. What is cool about his event is it has never been done before. President called to get approval and the missionary department said it has never been done. That is cool that we are making history here. After the program we went out again and did some more mingling until the end of the night. 

Sunday 

It was fast Sunday at church we had a lot of great testimonies in sacrament meeting. After church we had a lesson fall through. Dinner was with the Yauney family then we called it a night.
